ECM+ invites you to discover BOP, a young ensemble dedicated to scenic music, through their performance of two works exploring the legendary as well as historical figure of Sappho. First, the singers and instrumentalists of BOP conducted by Hubert Tanguay-Labrosse will perform Orpheus on Sappho‘s Shore by Luna Pearl Woolf, premiered by the ECM+ in 2004. They will then present the canadian premiere of Five Images After Sappho by the Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen, based on text fragments from the enigmatic poet.
