In the ECM+Debuts series, intended to showcase young virtuoso soloists, flutist Marilène Provencher-Leduc performs Stockhausen’s famous Kathinkas Gesang als Luzifers Requiem from the opera Licht, in its original version for solo flute and six spatially separated percussionists. In this veritable “requiem” for Lucifer, the cat Kathinka recites the magic formulas that will guide Lucifer to the light.
The program also includes Taylor Brook’s creation Axon—the Generation2016 Jury Award winner—performed by Provencher-Leduc with double bass player Gaspard Daigle, and Nasenflügeltanz, also by Stockhausen, performed by percussionist Olivier Maranda.
